FC Humber United Chairman, Richard Smales, reacts to the recent news from The FA regarding the restructuring of the leagues at Steps 4-6.
“Following the news announced last night from The FA, as a club we can now look to prepare for a season in the NCEL Division 1. We knew this restructure was going to take place however we had a tiny bit of doubt as to whether within the restructure The FA would demote a couple of clubs at the same time.
We are now looking forward to putting 100% effort into building up for a season in which we will be competing at Step 6 and focus all our preparation and energy into being competitive on the pitch alongside building our connections off the pitch too through our community work and sponsorship portfolio.
With no mention of relegation and spaces to fill in our league we can look forward to welcoming some new clubs and also battle against our closest rivals too. It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to look forward to the return of football and as each week passes we edge closer to the start of this season and now our focus can be fully towards a strong campaign in the NCEL Division 1.
Behind the scenes we are very close to securing a long term training venue, the squad is coming together nicely following recent trial games and we are becoming more and more active to securing new sponsors and partners. The club continues to be positive in everything we do and now we know our security at this level we have a platform for which to build upon for the future.
I’ve said it before to Marc (Director of Football) & the Gaffer, but the hard work really does begin now.”
