This is a re-arranged fixture, which was originally postponed due to poor pitch conditions.
Humber sit seven points beneath Swallownest, who they lost to this weekend in a crucial relegation match. With only three games left, there is now no room for error for the Selby based side.
In the last month Humber have lost 11 points from winning positions, so they only have themselves to blame for the position they find themselves in.
In addition to Humber winning all three remaining matches, they must hope Swallownest fail to beat Retford and Parkgate in their last two matches.
Both teams whom have nothing to play for this season.
With the playoffs decided, Selby Town now have nothing to play for in 7th position. But you’d imagine they would revel in relegating the team, they have had ground share with all season.
Aside from that particular motivation, Selby are in blistering form at the minute, winning five of the last six games.
This run included 22 goals in six games. A free scoring team coming up against the leagues worst defence, makes you fear the worst.
In addition this, Selby have not lost a game against a bottom half side since the 2nd October.
Therefore Humber will have to achieve two rarities to win this fixture. Winning away from home, which they have failed to do so in all but one occasion and as a bottom half side beat Selby.
Given past history you’d count Humber out. In the two meetings this season they’ve lost 7-3 and 6-4 to Selby, signalling another entertaining game.
But entertainment is not what Humber need right now, it’s points on the board.
To put into perspective how difficult Humber’s task is, they must win the same amount of matches as they’ve won all season, in a row, to even stand a chance of survival.
Whilst the season is now out of our hands, your support is still much appreciated and we hope you come down in numbers on Tuesday night and enjoy the match.
