FC Humber United will look to put Saturday’s gut wrenching defeat behind them, as they travel to promotion chasing Brigg Town.

After losing Saturday’s match in the 88th minute, Humber are now seven points adrift of safety. This was not helped by the fact nearest rivals Rainworth and Swallownest both won.

Humber have to remain mentally strong though because their task of staying up is not getting any easier, starting with Brigg Town on Wednesday.

Brigg’s scoring statistics are something to marvel at and scarily good to say the least.

Brigg forward Scott Phillips is the leagues top scorer with 31 (averaging a goal a game). This includes 11 so far this year and we are barely into March. Out of these 11 goals this year, Phillips has notched two hat-tricks.

Despite Phillips incredible scoring record this season, Brigg are no one trick pony. Dayle Hutson and Alfie Usher are also amongst the leagues top scorers with 35 goals between them.

Brigg are the top scorers in the league with 112 goals and have not failed to scored in a single competitive game this season.

Can Humber do what no other side has managed to do this season and keep a clean sheet against Brigg?

The statistics are certainly against Humber, as Brigg are unbeaten in their last six home games. Their last home defeat was 2-1 against Ollerton Town on the 4th December.

Humber will need to be on their guard, as Brigg have a clear ruthlessness about them. They hold the record for the biggest home and away victories this season.

14-1 against Teversal at home and 7-0 away to Clipstone.

Brigg are coming off the back of a 3-2 away defeat to Hall Road Rangers last time out, their only defeat this year. You may feel Hall Road have poked the bee hive and Brigg are out for blood on Wednesday.

Motivation will not be hard to come by for the team placed third in the league. They will be desperately seeking revenge, for their 5-4 defeat against Humber earlier in the season.

Brigg need to win to keep tabs on the top two and draws will not cut it for Humber down at the bottom of the league.

It promises to be an exciting encounter, with implications at both ends of the table and other factors mixed in like past results.

Come down and support the lads under the lights this Wednesday night, as we look to gain ground on the teams just above us and do the double over Brigg.
