Following on from their heavy defeat in what was considered a derby game away to Hull side, Hall Road Rangers, FC Humber United continue their league campaign on Saturday against a decent Retford FC side who find themselves mid table despite making a good start to their campaign. Aiming to turn around the defeat witnessed at Hall Road, Humber returned to the familiar setting of the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium to face Retford FC in a 2.00pm kick-off. As has been the way for a sizable period of the season, Humber will begin the day toward the foot of the table after perhaps a turbulent start, however, sensational performances have proven sporadic thus far indicating the calibre of football the club can play, we can hope Saturday’s fixture will perhaps be the catalyst the squad requires to press on.

Humber begin inside the league’s bottom three after results perhaps haven’t gone the club’s way; beginning the weekend on ten points from their opening seventeen fixtures of the season and all involved will certainly be aspiring to achieve a further haul from a competitive fixture back home, under the guidance of Marc Brown.

Sighting our opponents for Saturday’s league fixture, the visiting Retford FC face Humber off the back of a four-one defeat at home against Hall Road Rangers. Despite making a decent start to the season, Retford find themselves tenth in the league after collecting twenty-seven points from their sixteen games played; however recent results may give a little added hope to Humber on gaining something from the fixture. Despite what the form books may suggest going into the fixture, Humber will certainly aim to make a decent account of themselves.

Head-to-Head

Tale of the Tape

When it comes to FC Humber United versus Retford FC, the two sides have only met in competitive action on two occasions. Through the short period FC Humber have existed in their many forms, two occasions they have met Retford FC and as the record stands, it is not a pretty sight for FC Humber as Retford have won all prior games. There has yet to be a draw between the two sides or a victory for FC Humber, perhaps this opening salvo in the league between the two may break the streak.

Of the two fixtures FC Humber and Retford have met in competitive action, there have been fourteen goals between the two: three from FC Humber and eleven from the visiting Retford. The last time these two met was in a friendly on 7th May 2021, the tie ended in a hard fought 2-1 victory for Retford FC. That fixture saw Yaya Dembele score for Retford that day who has played for both clubs, so it would be suffice to say that FC Humber will have their sights set on bettering previous fixtures in their favour.
