Clipstone FC and FC Humber United are set to meet in a season defining match on Saturday, at Lido ground.
Humber are nine points adrift from safety and Clipstone, who occupy the position just above the drop zone. Clipstone will be looking nervously over their own shoulders, sitting just four points above the relegation places.
“It’s another tough game for us on Saturday against a team that are nine points ahead of us in the table”, described Humber United manager David Haley.
“Like myself, their new manager will be looking for his first positive result to start to progress in the right direction, up the league table”.
Haley was not wrong in his assessment, with both sides in woeful form.
Humber United have not won an away game in eleven attempts this season and their winless record stretches all the way back to October 19th 2021. This came in a 5-4 home victory over Brigg Town.
Clipstones’ statistics appear even more damning, with the club in free-fall recently. The cobras have shipped 15 goals in their last three games with no reply.
Despite encouraging performances against the leagues top two teams, Haley is not underestimating a severely out-of-kilter Clipstone outfit.
“It will be different to our last two fixtures but we need to work as hard as we did in those to get something out of this game”.
Last time the two sides met, was back in September in a 3-3 draw at Selby.
However, this provides little indication of how this weekends match will play out, due to much changed teams and management.
Whatever happens this weekend, expect an exciting match in what looks to be a make it or break it prospect.
