FC Humber United first team manager Dave Haley offers his thoughts following our game with Hallam FC on the weekend.

It was another very tough fixture and losing 3 players before kick-off did not help us at all. Despite our preparations not being the best I thought the players spirit, work ethic and team defensive shape was very good again.

We were always going to have to defend well against the league leaders and in front of a big crowd we did just that. I thought our two central defenders were solid and behind them our keeper had an excellent game pulling off some great saves.

It was a good all-round team performance but we still need to learn from the mistakes that we made and the ones that led to their goals. At times we gave the ball away in the wrong areas of the field taking too many touches of the ball and our defensive covering positions could have been better when they were playing long balls over the top.

These are issues that we will address in training and make sure we get them right for our next massive game against Clipstone in two weeks time.

Our next fixture is away at Clipstone FC on Saturday 22nd January followed by a home game against Teversal FC to end the opening month of new year.
