FC Humber United put in a five star performance to secure three valuable points in our end of season fight for survival in the NCEL Division 1.

In a scrappy and end-to-end game Humber broke the deadlock through Red Bates who scored his first goal for the club. Following great work to close down the Ollerton keeper a total miss-kick fell kindly to Red who walked the ball home into the open goal.

Humber once again this season found it difficult to hold onto a lead in key sections of the game and ultimately conceeded on the stroke of half time to send the sides in level at the break 1-1.

The second half continued much as the first half ended with both teams having great chances to take the lead and it was Humber that took the opportunity through Jack Durkin, eventually smashing home from inside the box after a typical non-league scramble.

Ollerton again equalised shortly after this following some poor defending which levelled the game at 2-2. Enter George Green who took it upon himself to take control of the match and instill his clear footballing quality on the ball.

As the game entered its final 15 minutes Jack Durkin eventually put the ball in the net following another set-piece scramble to give Durkin his second goal of the game and Humber the 3-2 lead.

With Brandon Burke entering the field he found himself unmarked on the counter attack to further extend the lead to 4-2 and Burke his 12th goal of the season so far.

Fittingly it was George Green who finished of the night with his first goal for the club. Picking up the ball wide out he went on a Messi style run beating 6 or 7 Ollerton players before eventually being chopped down on the edge of the area, turning from Messi into David Beckham he picked himself up and put the ball into the top corner from the resulting freekick. A superd solo goal to cap a fine evening for FC Humber.

With three points secured we head to Swallownest on Saturday in a huge game at the bottom of the NCEL Division 1. Another win is required to close the gap heading into the final 3 fixtures of the season.
